The best present

on

There's one more little piece of our 2010 Christmas that I haven't shared yet. I saved the best for last, just like Eric and I did on Christmas morning. We let them open up their stockings, then the under-the-tree presents. And then Eric pulled out a big envelope and told them to open it up.

At first, Beth read pulled out what was inside and read the printed pages slowly.

Then she started to comprehend what it was saying.

Guys? It says ticket on here. Ticket to...

Disneyland! We're going to Disneyland!

Yep, that's right. Our big family Christmas present this year is a trip to Disneyland. So...if you've been there with small kids, if you have tips for surviving, if you can tell us what to pack, what to ride, and all in all how to have the happiest of times at the Happiest Place on Earth, then please leave your tips, encouragement and wisdom in the comments. We'd love to hear 'em!

How fun! You will have a blast! We haven't done Disney yet, but we did do Legoland last year. If I think of any tips, I will pass them on. Are you flying or driving?

You MUST get The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland. It's a book that will give you fabulous tips about what order to do the rides in. It's a life-saver.

Take a stroller. Take two if you can, or borrow a double stroller. They rent them at the park, but they're expensive and uncomfortable.

Get to the parks before they open in the morning so you can get in right when the park opens, and do the rounds in the morning--go back to the hotel and take naps or swim in the pool--then do the evening rounds.

Do not underestimate how exhausted you will be after two full days at the park. We did two days, then had a non-Disney day that allowed us to sleep in and play in the water.

I could go on and on--I love Disney and we're already planning our next trip!--but I don't know how much rambling you want from me :)

What a fun trip you'll have!!

Love the pictures. Very nice surprise. We went to California Adventure about a month ago. Quite fun! But Disneyland is still way better.
I don't know about tips. We like it all and do it differently every time we go. I agree with the 2 strollers, because it helps to even let the older ones ride in them sometimes - walking and standing all day is tiring for us all. Though we always rent 2 there at the park because it's easiest - strollers on/off trams from the parking always presents a challenge for me.
Can't wait to hear about your adventures!
